2024 Highlights - Westcontrol Berget

An exeptional year –  with growth and development on all fronts.

As a supplier of cable, electronics and precision mechanical parts, Westcontrol Berget (WEB) have not only strengthened our position in the market, but also invested in technology and new employees to ensure a future-oriented operation.

Here are some of the highlights from the past year:

 

We are growing – 60 new employees!

The year has distinguished itself with significant growth in our team. As many as 60 new colleagues were welcomed to Westcontrol Berget during 2024. This expansion reflects our need for increased capacity and expertise to meet the demands of our customers.

 

Name change: From Berget to Westcontrol Berget

A big moment this year was the name change to Westcontrol Berget, a milestone that marks our strengthened connection to the Westcontrol group. The celebration on 16 May brought together employees for speeches from CEO Inge Flaten and Leif Petter Skaar, CEO of Westcontrol, who both emphasized the importance of a common identity. The event included barbecue, sun and a great atmosphere – a perfect setting to mark this important step. 

 

Technological innovation: Robotization in the Fastems facility

 
In September and October, we took a big step into the future with the start-up of a new robotic plant integrated with Fastems Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS). This system, which includes five machining centers and a pallet loading robot, is designed to increase production by 100-200 hours per week. Furthermore, we have implemented Zoller Tool Management Systems, which provide an overview of more than 2000 tools in the factory and optimize the service life of each individual tool. This strengthens our position as a leading player in digitalization and automation.
 
 

Strategic collaborations

During the year, we have been active on several industry platforms:
 
  • KDA Supplier Days: At Kongsberg, we had the opportunity to meet both existing and potential customers. With a stand and exhibition in the Business Park, we presented our solutions to buyers and representatives from the Kongsberg Group.
  • The INFO/ERFA conference and the FSI fair: We participated in this year’s INFO/ERFA conference on 14 and 15 May, where the focus was on the defence industry and the upcoming increase in the defence budget. In addition, we participated in the FSI fair at Akershus Fortress, where we made valuable contacts and explored new business opportunities.

 

Records of the year

2024 has been a record year for Westcontrol Berget. We are particularly proud of the cable and electrical department, which ends the year with the highest order backlog ever. This milestone not only secures production for the whole of 2025, but also shows how strong we are in the market. Thanks to the dedication of our employees and the trust of our customers, we have achieved results that give us a solid foundation for the future. With a focus on quality, innovation and collaboration, we enter 2025 with strong prerequisites to continue this exciting journey.
